The 2022 Minnesota Energy Factsheet highlights Minnesota’s clean energy industry’s progress and perseverance in the face of a challenging year. The 2021 numbers show the impact of the pandemic and turbulent energy market on Minnesota’s clean energy economy, but overall trends predict a promising future for Minnesota’s energy sector. With increased renewable power generation and installations, Minnesota has taken steps on its path toward energy independence.

Each year, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) along with BloombergNEF releases a factbook containing the impacts and statistics about renewable energy’s performance in America over the past year. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic had huge effects on the industry including decreasing energy demand overall and the furlough of hundreds of thousands of clean energy workers. Though some numbers from this year’s factbook might look different next year as the country rebounds from the pandemic, it also might have shifted how the country looks at clean energy and its role in the American mix.

The 2017 edition of the Sustainable Energy in America Factbook provides up-to-date, accurate market information about the broad range of industries that are contributing to the country’s move towards cleaner energy production and more efficient energy usage.
