Session Description:
Since its inception, the Sustainable Buildings (SB 2030) program has been very successful in providing guidance for building energy efficiency in Minnesota. As we move towards 2025 when the energy targets shift to 90%-better, the program is evolving to meet the changing needs of projects. This event will outline funding opportunities for high performance buildings, provide updates on the integration of electric vehicles into building infrastructure, and review proposed updates to the code landscape of Minnesota. Ongoing work updating and improving future-looking weather files will also be introduced with a panel discussing how best to develop actionable data and to integrate it into design practice to improve resilience. The session will end with a tour of the Science Museum.
Learning Objectives:
- Review emerging Federal and other funding opportunities for high-performance buildings
- Outline program offerings for renewable energy development and EV deployment
- Review current and upcoming efforts on building decarbonization
- Understand future commercial energy code updates and their connection to SB 2030
- Understand the role of predictive weather data in planning for energy efficiency and resilience
