Hello, I’m George Damian, the new Director of Government Affairs for Clean Energy Economy Minnesota. I am thrilled to kick off 2022 working to promote and grow clean energy and energy efficiency jobs in Minnesota.

I have spent the last decade plus working on political campaigns across the state of Minnesota and the last five years in the Minnesota legislature. I am extremely excited to use my experience to serve the members of CEEM and help move Minnesota towards a clean energy future.

Why CEEM?

CEEM and its members are taking a nonpartisan, jobs and business-focused approach that is badly needed to move our state forward. The good-paying jobs and business efficiencies coming from new developments in the clean energy sector are impossible to ignore and they are improving at a staggering rate.

By promoting and supporting this industry, Minnesota can stake its claim as a clean energy leader in the country and across the world. I am extremely excited to be a part of this effort to not only bring these jobs and efficiencies to our state but also to leave our state and world better than we found it for the next generation.

Background

I grew up in Eagan, Minnesota and spent a year at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities before finishing my undergrad at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. I then came back to St. Paul to attend law school at William Mitchell College of Law, now Mitchell Hamline Law School, graduating in 2013.

After graduating from law school, I worked on various statewide, congressional and local political campaigns before spending the past five years serving in the communications department for the Minnesota House Republican Caucus.

I live in the South Metro with my wife and two daughters. When not working, from April to October you are equally likely to see me at Target Field, hacking my way around a golf course, taking my daughters to Valleyfair, or picking up sticks in my yard — it’s a never-ending battle.
