Hiring: Digital Content Specialist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented and creative Digital Content Specialist to join our small nonprofit team. As a Digital Content Specialist, you will play a crucial role in crafting engaging and compelling content for various digital platforms, including blogs, newsletters, social media, and special projects like report launches and events. Your exceptional writing skills, digital marketing expertise, and passion for clean energy will help us reach a wider audience and inspire action. Breakdown of role:
65% | Researching and writing content (blogs, newsletters, website copy)
25% | Social media
10% | Analytics and strategy, other marketing tasks
Main Responsibilities:
Content Creation:
- Develop and create high-quality content for our organization’s digital channels, including blog posts, articles, newsletters, social media posts, event descriptions and recaps, website copy and more.
- Conduct research and interviews to gather information and data for content creation, ensuring accuracy and credibility.
- Collaborate with the team to develop content strategies aligned with the organization’s mission.
- Follow brand guidelines and best practices to ensure a consistent voice across all channels and in all writing.
Content Management:
- Manage and update our organization’s website and, ensuring that content is up to date, informative and accurate. Maintain records accurately in the company’s CRM (Salesforce).
- Optimize content for search engine optimization (SEO) to improve visibility and increase organic traffic.
- Monitor and analyze content performance using web analytics tools to identify areas of improvement and make data-driven recommendations.
Social Media Engagement:
- Develop and implement social media content calendars to maintain a consistent and engaging presence across various platforms.
- Create and schedule social media posts, monitor interactions, and respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify and implement strategies to increase social media engagement, followers, and reach.
Special Projects:
- Collaborate with the entire team to create digital content for special projects and reports, special campaigns and events.
- Support the development of multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, and interactive elements, to enhance engagement and storytelling.
Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
- Proven experience (1-2 years) as a content specialist, content writer, or a similar role.
- Must live in the area, as in-person work in the Twin Cities is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong journalistic instincts with the ability to identify compelling and relevant stories, with a keen understanding of what will engage and inform readers and the drive to tell stories.
- Proficient in interviewing key stakeholders to gather relevant and accurate information. Able to build rapport and establish trust with interviewees, asking probing questions and actively listening to elicit insightful responses. Meticulous in recording and documenting interview findings, ensuring all essential details are captured and accurately reflected in the final written pieces.
- Proficiency in using WordPress and website and social media analytics tools
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
- Basic knowledge of graphic design principles and experience with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to customize messaging for a wide range of audiences and write in a business tone.
- Passion for clean energy or sustainability and the mission of CEEM.
Benefits
- Starting salary range: $50,000-$60,000 USD dependent on experience
- Full benefits package

- Flexible work environment (Hours are flexible, but usually fall within a standard 9-5, 40 hours a week, M-F, with a mix of in-person and remote work. Occasional travel and events outside standard work hours are possible.)
